Successful 'Strengthening and Competence PETAKOM Workshop 2023/2024 session'
The Persatuan Mahasiswa Teknologi Komputer (PETAKOM) from the Faculty of Computing at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) recently concluded its impactful program, which is Strengthening and Competence PETAKOM Workshop 2023/2024 session or also known as 'Bengkel Pemantapan dan Kompetensi PETAKOM sesi 2023/2024.' Attended by 37 dedicated representatives, including 5 high council students, 7 executive council students, and 25 apprentices, the event spanned from March 1st, 10:00 AM, to March 3rd, 2:00 PM.
The faculty representatives showcased unwavering determination, enhancing their self-confidence through active participation. Their commitment and sacrifice to attend the program underscore the dedication of students striving to improve in various aspects, including emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and work quality.
Ts. Dr. Saradatul Akmar, the faculty's head of program development, orchestrated a unique 'play, learn, and reflect' session in the faculty pavilion. This approach not only fostered teamwork but also allowed students to draw connections between their childhood experiences and the responsibilities of managing people in their teenage years.
To alleviate post-exam stress, various games and reflective activities were incorporated throughout the program. The 'build the brick' activity emphasized problem-solving skills, encouraging participants to tackle challenges independently. The 'Paper Plane Challenge' showcased sportsmanship and STEAM learning, with faculty representatives engaging in friendly competition, applying Newton's laws of motion.
The 'Post-It Idea' activity provided a platform for students to share ideas for community service-based programs under the faculty. This collaborative exercise encouraged discussions on program objectives, tentative activities, financial implications, and other relevant topics, fostering an awareness of prioritizing student-centric programs.
A team member expressed, "This was truly a unique leadership workshop. We not only developed leadership skills based on community service but also forged bonds that will last a lifetime. Dr. Sara's creative approach made the program enjoyable and unforgettable."
Looking ahead, the faculty representatives aspire for increased collaboration at the national level, with plans to expand leadership capabilities and intensify collaborative practices. The team, while celebrating their appreciation at Tanjung Gosong Beach on March 3rd, 2024, pledged to continuously enhance leadership within the faculty and serve as successful ambassadors throughout their tenure for the 2023/2024 session.
The 'Strengthening and Competence PETAKOM Workshop 2023/2024 session' has left a lasting impact on all computer faculty representatives, equipping them to apply their newfound knowledge and skills as ambassadors within the faculty, not only in leadership but also academically, inspiring their peers.
